“Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.” ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
It’s a rainy, dark day here in NC. I actually started this painting yesterday with a totally different painting and painted over it today. I like how it seems the emerging sky is taking place (behind the clouds the sun is still shining)…Again my iphone takes sucky blurred pictures – it looks clearer in person…:-)
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a painting! Although I’ve done a few since getting back to work, I have to admit that it’s been hard to keep at it. I started this one when we had family stop by on their way to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago. The real joy of that day was getting 3 of the kids painting and seeing how proud they were of themselves! I just finished this and it reminded me of an old man looking in a window pane at his reflection – very distorted but it’s interesting I think.
Have a new puppy and after being up all week at all hours of the night and picking up after puppy accidents, I was inspired with those colors this morning (while it was still dark out). As the sun came up and my mood shifted, I did another painting that was happier and brighter. I went back to the puppy painting and decided to add the red which I love. Both still unnamed although the second one reminds me of poppies. Pic came out blurry – it looked better on my phone!
I felt a strong urge this morning to do a ‘red’ painting. Started with a mix of naphtha red and white for the lighter background and then started adding in different red colors. I used mostly scrapers and palette knives. My honey doesn’t like this one as much because he doesn’t “see” anything in the painting. 🙂 I like it!
